Saturday afternoon around 5pm at the Dutch Poster Auction Firm VAN SABBEN POSTER AUCTIONS in Hoorn in The Netherlands an original poster in Art Deco-style titled “L’INTRANSIGEANT” by French designer Adolphe Mouron CASSANDRE (1901-1968) was auctioned for € 210,000 ,- This is an absolute record for a Cassandre poster! The “high estimate” was ‘only’ 50,000 euros. Of the same poster artist a few additional posters were auctioned for hammer prices between 12,000 and 20,000 euros. A decisive success for the auction house and auctioneer Udo BOERSMA, who organizes twice a year a vintage poster auction in Hoorn, the only specialized auction of this type in the lowlands.
